Stafford Lake Reflection
Stafford lake has a few problems going on. Stafford lake is suffering extreme erosion and many invasive species are taking over and killing the native plants there. Also, runoff from the farm across the road is flowing into the lake, which is our source of clean drinking water. Marin county parks are going through different stages of stream restoration. Yesterday, we went to Stafford lake to work on sheet mulching. This will kill the weeds and turn them into new soil so they can plant more native species. This will change the balance so the native species can take over and outgrow the weeds, or pests. I really liked this field trip because I felt like I was really helping and giving back to the ecosystem. Our volunteer work is very important and this will help the native species thrive and also keep Stafford lake clean and healthy.
